Dropped Flowers

Dropped Flower, created in 2006, is the second work we made for Claes Oldenburg and Coosje Van Bruggen. It reflects the artists’ fascination with obsolescence and its poetic significance. The piece depicts a poppy recently plucked but already marked by its contact with the ground. Despite its compromised state, the explosion of color in the artwork captivates the viewer, resembling a large-scale maquette. The artists crafted this piece for their retrospective exhibition at Castello di Rivoli in October 2006.
