Echoes

Echoes

“Echoes”, a fountain crafted during the 2023 Design Week, pays homage to Italy’s cultural legacy of public fountains as communal hubs. The 3-meter-high cone-shaped air structure challenges conventional fountain norms, serving as a minimalist, transparent marvel.
Constructed from biodegradable PVC, it unveils typically concealed elements like water pumps, redefining the aesthetic. Floating above a reflective water pond, it plays with contrasts – permanence versus impermanence, rigidity versus delicacy. Born from improvisation within Alcova’s public grounds, “Echoes” questions the historic typology of fountains, presenting a portable, collectible and re-installable piece that transcends traditional limitations, offering a novel perspective on this iconic urban feature.
