In the remote landscapes of Miyako Island, Mariko Mori’s residence, Yuputira, stands as an artistic testament to her deep connection with nature. The spherical structure, echoing bleached coral forms, offers a tranquil view of the emerald green ocean. The upper studio, reminiscent of Kyoto’s Ryoan-ji temple, provides a spiritual retreat overlooking ocean rocks.
Mori’s pearlescent white concrete walls, meticulously crafted, reflect her reverence for the transformative power of light. Yuputira serves as both studio and an extension of Mori’s artistic journey, seamlessly blending nature, spirituality and creative expression.
Complementing this unique environment, Angelino Artworks has contributed a bespoke aluminum staircase with polished acrylic steps, adding a distinctive touch to this living masterpiece.
