L3TO WAS HERE… at Monaco Yacht Show 2025

The Monaco Yacht Show 2025 set the stage for an unconventional event: the unveiling of L3TO WAS HERE, the latest artwork by Brett Crawford, celebrating and reinforcing the extraordinary human and creative journey of the American artist. In front of hundreds of guests, in one of the Principality’s most exclusive venues, Crawford and Angelino Artworks created an evening that marked a collaboration uniting artistic excellence, technical savoir-faire and artisanal mastery.

Symbolism, personal experiences and values intertwine in this creation, where the artist once again explores and reinterprets the worlds of fairy tales and mythology – an ideal, universal language to tell his story. Upon a tall, stripped tree trunk stands a wooden figure reminiscent of Pinocchio: body bent forward, gaze lowered, as if suspended between falling and contemplation. The visible joints and wooden texture emphasize the sense of fragility, while at the base, small carpenter’s tools – chisels, a hammer – narrate the puppet’s origin and the artisanal process that, this time, is “self-driven”. For Brett Crawford’s Pinok3o, there are no skilled hands of Father Geppetto at work – he carved himself.

Halfway up the trunk, a small branch hosts an acorn and a blue bird – a delicate counterpoint to the sculpture’s verticality.

The name L3TO WAS HERE evokes the Greek myth of Leto, mother of Apollo and Artemis, protector of motherhood and growth, represented by the sturdy, proud little bird; the acorn becomes Artemis, the puppet Apollo… a poetic connection between elements and narrative. The material treatment – from the realism of the bark to the glossy finish – creates a dialogue between nature, legend and engineering precision.

The realization is the result of an exceptional synergy with Angelino Artworks, which transformed sketches and 3D models into a body of aluminum and resin, entirely hand-painted by specialized artists and finished with high-performance automotive coating. Thanks to their technical expertise and artisanal precision, every grain and every tension of wood and metal were captured, transforming the concept into a sculpture that weaves together myth, matter and constructive perfection.

But above all, the Angelino Artworks team gave shape to emotions and states of mind, those Brett Crawford wished to share and that resonate with every viewer, turning each detail into a fragment of courage, fragility and rebirth.

“A mix of disbelief, joy, and gratitude”, the artist confides, “is what I felt at the moment the sculpture came to life before my eyes, moving my project from paper to an incredible three-dimensional work. For me, it’s an extraordinary combination of engineering and emotion, something beyond mere drawing and I’m amazed by the creative alchemy once again displayed by Angelino Artworks. Witnessing the birth of L3TO WAS HERE and presenting it in fabulous Montecarlo marks the new pinnacle of my creative journey”.
